INU Triversity (Director: Professor Ha Byung-Hoon, Department of Performing Arts, Incheon National University) announced the successful completion of an urban-rural exchange program in Cheorwon-gun, held from May 30 to 31, with over 20 students from the Urban Agriculture Expert Course participating.

This program served as a practical component of the Urban Agriculture Expert Course, aimed at enhancing students’ understanding through hands-on experiences in actual agricultural settings, while also revitalizing exchange with rural communities.

Participants visited the "Unification Rice Paddy" located in the Civilian Control Zone (CCZ) of Cheorwon, Gangwon-do—a symbolic site of peace and life where various groups have regularly taken part in rice planting and harvesting events. The students engaged in traditional hand-planting of rice and conversed with local farmers, reflecting on the values of coexistence between urban and rural areas as well as the broader meaning of peace and unification.

One student commented, “This experience made me deeply consider how urban agriculture experts can help bridge the gap between cities and rural areas. I hope such programs continue and lead to sustainable cooperation between urban and rural communities.”

Director Ha Byung-Hoon remarked, “This exchange program was not just about farming but about practicing the social value of urban agriculture and expanding our understanding of peace. I hope more people take interest in our course, which seeks to foster ecological lifestyles and community values that contribute meaningfully to society.”
